Day-to-day operating brief
What Same Day Courier (Van) work looks like in practice
A Same-Day Van Courier carries urgent consignments directly between customers, often with changing routes and tight collection windows. Terms should cover job acceptance, vehicle checks, load security, waiting time, tolls, live updates, named recipients, proof of delivery and return instructions. Urgency must not permit unsafe driving, unverified destination changes, informal subcontracting or leaving a consignment unattended while awaiting revised instructions. At collection, packaging and declared handling needs should be checked before custody begins, especially for upright-only or fragile consignments. If a direct run is interrupted by breakdown, dispatch should authorise the recovery and replacement-vehicle transfer with both custody times documented. Proof should capture the consignee named in the job, not simply any person near the destination. Confidential paperwork should remain face down or enclosed during reception waiting and signature.
Individually written and reviewed against the maintained role record.
