Day-to-day operating brief
What Car Hire Assistant (Customer service) work looks like in practice
A Car Hire Customer Service Assistant books vehicles, verifies customer documents, explains rental terms and completes handover and return checks. Terms should cover licence validation, identity, deposits, payment security, optional products, upgrades, fuel, mileage, damage images, late returns and breakdown referrals. The assistant should not waive eligibility controls to save a booking, add products without consent, alter damage evidence or promise that a customer will not be charged before review. Customer checks should match the booking name, licence entitlement, payment authority and any additional driver before keys are issued. Return evidence should separate new damage from dirt, pre-existing marks and mechanical warnings, with the vehicle held from rehire when a safety-related dashboard alert remains unexplained. Foreign or provisional licence referrals should follow the current eligibility matrix, with translations or electronic checks retained against the booking. Vehicle keys must remain linked to the correct registration and bay during every handover.
Individually written and reviewed against the maintained role record.
