Responsibilities reflected in the contract

• Set out wire-saw cuts from authorised structural and service information.
• Inspect and rig the saw, diamond wire, guards and pulley arrangement.
• Establish and maintain the wire-plane and fragment exclusion zones.
• Coordinate support, lifting and restraint of each section before cutting.
• Control feed, tension, cooling water and slurry while monitoring wire tracking.
• Stop for abnormal vibration, wire damage, movement or deviation from the cut.
• Record setup, progress, cut completion and released-section handover.

A realistic working scenario

The wire begins tracking towards retained reinforcement and the cut piece is not responding to the lifting arrangement. The operator stops, isolates the saw and requests revised engineering and lifting direction.
