Day-to-day operating brief
What Septic Tank Operative work looks like in practice
A Septic Tank Operative attends homes, farms and commercial sites to empty tanks, transfer sewage and report visible system problems using vacuum equipment. The role combines driving, hoses, biological exposure, remote access and environmental risk. Terms should identify vehicle licence, service territory, callouts, PPE and health controls, authorised disposal sites, spill response and the absolute distinction between surface pumping work and confined-space entry. The employee should explain observable limitations without presenting themselves as an engineer unless separately qualified. The customer handover should record the observed liquid level after service, covers replaced and access condition without guaranteeing future system performance. Rainfall, ground conditions and downstream defects may affect what happens next.
Individually written and reviewed against the maintained role record.
