Day-to-day operating brief
What CrossFit Coach (Level 1/2) work looks like in practice
A CrossFit Coach delivers programmed functional movements, strength work and conditioning to group classes. Terms should identify credential level, affiliate programming, class capacity, movement teaching, scaling, Olympic lifting limits, rigs and floor layout, equipment checks, score recording, competitions, substitute cover, music, first aid and the boundary between coaching and clinical rehabilitation. A coached CrossFit session can combine Olympic lifts, gymnastics and high-intensity conditioning, so programming authority and athlete scaling must be explicit. The coach needs to understand the affiliate's class plan, rig and barbell inspection, lane spacing, drop zones and progression rules for kipping, inversion or loaded technique. A Level 1 or Level 2 credential should be represented accurately and kept current if required. Employers should also define benchmark recording, competition preparation, youth or adaptive athletes, open-gym boundaries and when pain, repeated failed lifts or loss of control requires the workout to stop.
