Responsibilities reflected in the contract

A realistic working scenario

At a call, the lead clinician is diverted to a second patient while the first deteriorates. The assistant follows trained immediate actions, calls for support and provides a concise clinical handover.

Reporting relationship

Typically reports to Clinical Lead, Ambulance Operations Manager, Duty Manager or Registered Clinician. Confirm the employer's actual reporting structure in the builder.

Authority and escalation

• The assistant acts within training and clinical delegation; diagnosis, independent discharge and interventions outside competence remain with registered or authorised clinicians.
• Obtain approval before committing expenditure, changing contractual commitments or making regulated or staffing decisions outside the assigned role.
