Responsibilities reflected in the contract

A realistic working scenario

A new socket produces unexpected pressure and skin marking during gait review. The clinician stops use, records the location and response and revises the fit before authorising continued wear.

Reporting relationship

Typically reports to Line Manager or Department Manager. Confirm the employer's actual reporting structure in the builder.

Authority and escalation

• The clinician determines device requirements within competence and local pathways. Funding exceptions, surgical advice and manufacture outside verified specifications require the relevant authority.
• Obtain approval before committing expenditure, changing contractual commitments or making regulated or staffing decisions outside the assigned role.

• Care planning systems.

Workplace context

• Practice reception, clinical administration areas and approved patient-facing areas.
