What Family Law Assistant work looks like in practice
A Family Law Assistant supports solicitors handling divorce, finance, children, domestic abuse or related proceedings. Terms should cover client onboarding, appointments, chronology, correspondence, court forms, bundles, disclosure, hearing logistics, legal aid where relevant, safeguarding and distress. The assistant may explain administrative steps but should not give unsupervised legal advice, mediate family disputes or disclose addresses and contact details without checking protective requirements. Hearing preparation should verify service, pagination, current orders and the party names used throughout the bundle. Communications involving children should remain focused on the proceeding and authorised adults; informal family updates should not be copied into case records merely because they arrive through a convenient messaging channel.
Individually written and reviewed against the maintained role record.
