Day-to-day operating brief
What Goods In/Out Clerk work looks like in practice
A Goods In/Out Clerk records materials entering and products leaving a manufacturing site. Terms should cover delivery booking, purchase and dispatch documents, quantities, condition, batch or serial identity, quarantine status, carrier checks, customs or dangerous-goods interfaces, proof of delivery and system transactions. The clerk should not receipt unknown goods or release product where documentation, status or destination is unresolved. Receipt controls should establish not only quantity but identity, revision, supplier and required evidence such as certificates or temperature records. The clerk may coordinate unloading priorities while keeping emergency access and secure goods separate. For dispatch, address, product status, packaging condition and carrier collection authority need checking before handover. Terms should also cover export document interfaces, returnable packaging, proof-of-delivery disputes, cancelled collections and the reconciliation of system transactions when a vehicle departs with only part of an order. Yard and dock communication should identify the correct bay, unloading equipment and waiting location, preventing visiting drivers from entering production or pedestrian zones without authorised direction.
Individually written and reviewed against the maintained role record.
