Day-to-day operating brief
What Retail Advisor (Cosmetics sales) work looks like in practice
A Cosmetics Retail Advisor helps customers choose skincare, makeup, hair or fragrance products while managing testers, demonstrations, till transactions and stock. The role requires product knowledge without diagnosing conditions or making unsupported therapeutic promises. Terms should identify brands, demonstration scope, hygiene, samples and gifts, pricing and refunds, cash handling, targets, commission, customer data and escalation for reactions or complaints. Tester opening dates, applicator method and display condition should form part of routine checks. A sealed retail unit cannot simply replace a contaminated tester unless stock movement, tester labelling and customer-use controls are completed. Gift sets and promotions should retain normal product-suitability and returns information. A bundled discount must not encourage the advisor to omit limitations or suggest that every included item suits the same customer.
Individually written and reviewed against the maintained role record.
