Day-to-day operating brief
What IT Sales Executive work looks like in practice
An IT Sales Executive develops prospects and sells software, hardware or managed services using discovery, demonstrations and proposals. The role handles confidential customer needs, pricing, forecasts and product-roadmap questions. Terms should define territory, accounts, lead ownership, demo environments, discount and signature limits, expenses, targets, commission, renewals and coordination with technical specialists. Sales urgency must not create unsupported security, integration or delivery promises. Proposal handover should list every stated dependency, excluded service and non-standard promise. Implementation teams cannot protect margin or customer trust when commercially important qualifications remain buried in emails outside the signed order. Demo environments should use controlled sample data and clearly label simulated functions. Prospects must not infer that a polished demonstration proves production integration, migration effort or performance in their own estate.
