Day-to-day operating brief
What Coater work looks like in practice
A Manufacturing Coater applies protective or functional coatings by spray, dip, roller or other specified process. Terms should define products, surface preparation, mixing, pot life, application parameters, booths, ventilation, curing, thickness tests, colour or finish standards, masking, waste and rework. The employee should not extend expired material, alter formulations or release a finish that fails required checks. Surface contamination, temperature and cure history can make an apparently attractive finish unsuitable in service. The coater should verify preparation grade and cleanliness, maintain separation between coating systems and record environmental readings at meaningful stages. Contract terms may cover solvent storage, booth filters, static control, oven loading and handling after cure. Test panels, dry-film measurements and colour references need correct identification, while overspray and hazardous waste should follow the site disposal route rather than ordinary bins.
