Day-to-day operating brief
What Mould Setter work looks like in practice
A Mould Setter installs and changes mould tools on injection or related machinery, connects services and establishes approved start-up conditions. Terms should cover lifting plans, cranes, clamps, guarding, water, hydraulics, purging, recipes, material, first-off checks and tool care. The setter must not enter danger zones, improvise lifting or exceed tool and machine limits to reduce changeover time. A mould change involves interfaces among crane, machine platens, services, guards and the hot process, so a documented sequence and clear communication with operators are essential. The setter should verify tool identity, clamping force, ejector travel and water or hydraulic connections before cycling. Terms may cover purging, nozzle contact, hot-runner controls and prevention of contamination between materials. After start-up, tool condition and first-off evidence should be handed to production, including any temporary setting awaiting engineering review.
Individually written and reviewed against the maintained role record.
