Day-to-day operating brief
What Slinger/Signaller work looks like in practice
A Slinger/Signaller selects and attaches lifting accessories, checks load balance and communicates movement to the crane or equipment operator. Terms should cover lift-plan briefing, accessory identification, angles and capacity, sharp-edge protection, tag lines, exclusion zones, radio and hand signals and landing arrangements. The employee should not guess a load weight or continue when communication is lost. Accessory selection should consider sling angle, load surface and how the item will behave when first tensioned and finally landed. The signaller may need edge protection, spreader beams or tag lines identified in the plan. Employers should define pre-lift briefing, radio call signs and emergency-stop signals understood by everyone. After use, accessories should be returned with damage or contamination identified rather than placed back into serviceable storage without inspection.
Individually written and reviewed against the maintained role record.
