What Assistant Brand Manager (Retail) work looks like in practice
A Retail Assistant Brand Manager supports product launches, packaging updates, promotions and campaign execution across retailer calendars. The employee coordinates agencies, samples, forecasts and artwork while senior brand and commercial owners retain strategy and material spend decisions. Terms should define brands, channels, launch tasks, retailer information, product claims, packaging approvals, budgets, purchase orders, research, travel and development expectations. Retail launch tracking should reconcile artwork, product availability, retailer setup, promotional stock and media timing; a completed marketing asset does not mean the offer can reach shelves. Competitor observations must use legitimate public sources. Samples and packaging prototypes need version and destination controls. Performance reports should distinguish distribution, promotion and consumer demand so the assistant does not attribute a stock or listing change to creative activity. Retailer portals and shared drives should contain only current approved pack images and specifications. The assistant should remove superseded launch files rather than expecting recipients to identify the latest version. Promotion reviews should compare retailer execution with the approved mechanic before judging consumer response or supplier performance.
