Day-to-day operating brief
What Media Buyer (Negotiation) work looks like in practice
A Media Buyer negotiates and books advertising inventory across selected publishers, platforms or media owners after a media plan has defined audience and channel intent. The role focuses on price, placement, terms and delivery rather than developing the complete communications strategy. Terms should define media scope, client accounts, budget and booking limits, supplier relationships, discounts, rebates, conflicts, insertion orders, cancellations, make-goods, invoices and evidence of delivery. Comparable proposals should normalise audience definition, placement quality, production, fees, cancellation and measurement rather than rank only gross price. Verbal offers need written confirmation before a deadline becomes a commitment. Supplier concentration and credit risk should be visible where advance payment is material. At campaign close, unspent balances, credits and discrepancies must return to the correct client or budget treatment instead of disappearing within future bookings.
Individually written and reviewed against the maintained role record.
