Day-to-day operating brief
What Motion Graphics Designer (Video) work looks like in practice
A Motion Graphics Designer animates typography, logos, data and graphic elements for adverts, explainers, titles and social video. Unlike a character animator, the role commonly centres on designed visual systems, compositing and information clarity. Terms should define software, briefs, aspect ratios, templates, brand assets, accessibility, data sources, plugins, fonts, music, revisions, render resources, source-file ownership, archive and portfolio use. Typography must remain readable at intended duration, size and viewing environment; pausing a desktop preview is not evidence that mobile viewers can follow it. Template controls should protect logo clear space and mandatory copy while allowing efficient localisation. Compositing source footage needs consent and usage verification. Rendering should use named presets with quality checks for dropped frames, colour shifts and audio synchronisation before delivery.
