Day-to-day operating brief
What Health & Wellbeing Coach (Lifestyle) work looks like in practice
A Health and Wellbeing Coach helps people identify and pursue achievable changes in activity, sleep, routines, confidence or social connection. Terms should cover referral sources, coaching scope, individual and group contact, goal setting, motivational approaches, records, consent, confidentiality limits, accessibility, remote sessions, safeguarding, outcome measures and the boundary with counselling, diagnosis, dietetics, prescribing or crisis treatment. Lifestyle coaching is collaborative goal support rather than medical treatment. The coach may discuss sleep, movement, food, social connection and confidence, helping a person choose small actions and review barriers. Contract boundaries should prevent diagnosis, prescribing or unsupported claims while allowing appropriate liaison with clinicians and community services. Employers need to define the coaching model, consent for shared records, outcome reporting, safeguarding, remote-session privacy and caseload supervision. Particular care is needed when a participant discloses disordered eating, severe distress, domestic risk or symptoms requiring prompt clinical assessment.
Individually written and reviewed against the maintained role record.
