Day-to-day operating brief
What Data Analyst work looks like in practice
A Professional Services Data Analyst examines client operational, financial or customer data to answer engagement questions and support recommendations. The role moves between clients and must keep datasets, code and conclusions segregated while managing billable scope and deliverable deadlines. Terms should cover secure transfers, analysis tools, reproducibility, quality, travel, client presentations, reusable methods, IP and approval to publish findings. Engagement archives should identify which transformations are reusable methodology and which contain client-specific logic or confidential mappings. Results delivered as spreadsheets still need protected formulas, clear inputs and version labels. A later refresh should not overwrite the evidence supporting the originally issued report. Client presentations should show denominators, periods and definitions directly beside headline findings. Decision-makers may not consult a technical appendix, and an attractive percentage without its population can exaggerate operational significance.
Individually written and reviewed against the maintained role record.
