What Paraplanner work looks like in practice
A Paraplanner supports financial advisers by analysing fact-finds, researching products, modelling outcomes and drafting suitability reports. The role handles sensitive financial information and translates adviser recommendations into evidenced documentation without replacing authorised advice or client sign-off. Terms should define product scope, research tools, cashflow assumptions, report review, provider contact, qualifications, CPD, targets and conflicts. Suitability support should connect each recommendation to the client's recorded objectives, capacity for loss, time horizon and relevant tax assumptions. Cash-flow models need versioned inputs and understandable limitations rather than an unexplained projection. Product research should retain the comparison universe, charges and reasons alternatives were discounted. The paraplanner must refer inconsistencies or vulnerability indicators to the adviser and should not let report drafting become unrecorded personal advice. Report templates should never conceal missing client evidence behind polished standard wording. When charges or product features change during preparation, the research and recommendation sections must be refreshed together so the final document remains internally consistent. Investment illustrations from different dates or assumptions should not be compared without normalisation, and unresolved discrepancies belong visibly in the adviser review notes.
Individually written and reviewed against the maintained role record.
