What Data Analyst (Marketing) work looks like in practice
A Marketing Data Analyst combines campaign, website, CRM and sales data to explain performance and guide investment. The role must distinguish correlation from causation and make attribution, identity and data-quality limits visible. Terms should define datasets, warehouse and analytics access, customer identifiers, dashboard ownership, experiment design, model review, vendors, exports, confidential revenue data, targets and the boundary between analysis and final commercial decision. Dashboard releases should include metric definitions, refresh timing, coverage and known breaks, preventing users from comparing incompatible periods. Analyst notebooks or queries need parameters and source versions sufficient for reproduction. Small audience results should be handled carefully for both statistical reliability and privacy. When stakeholders request a favourable cut of data, the analyst should preserve the original question and explain how selection changes interpretation.
